2011 is an historic year for the Cavern Club. On Thursday 9th February 1961 The Beatles made their first appearance at the club during a lunchtime session. Over the following two years they made a total of 292 appearances until their final performance on 3rd August 1963.

On the 9th February a press event will be held at the Cavern Club Liverpool where we will be remembering the achievements of The Beatles and the historical legacy of the Cavern Club.During the press conference Jar Music Group (JMG) and its partners will be presenting the musical future ambitions of the Cavern Club and be providing the assembled press with details about the new generation of bands performing at the venue.
JMG and its partners have made great efforts over the last 3 years to ensure the venue is a favourite with artists and audiences alike. This will continue in 2011 by creating exciting genre specific events to support new underground music, inspired by Liverpool's and the UK's fantastic vibrant scene. This will preserve the historical music legacy of the Cavern Club and deliver on our joined commitment to facilitate unsigned bands with accessibility to industry opportunities that enhance and develop their true potential.
To commemorate The Beatles first performance all those years ago, Jar Music Live (the promotion arm of JMG) in partnership with the Cavern, will be running a series of gigs in February matching those The Beatles played to showcase the new generation of talent. A month of fantastic music split into 2 rooms with contemporary rock artist in the Live Lounge Room and Beatles nostalgia in the original room performed by the UK's best Beatles tribute band " Mersey Beatles".
Even though in some parts of the industry this date is not recognized as the first time The Beatles performed at the Cavern Club, because Ringo had not yet joined the band, nevertheless, the anniversary was endorsed by Sir Paul McCartney as their first shows and ones that moulded the band into what they eventually became.
